Why do some channels cost per message?
Channels like SMS, WhatsApp, and RCS have real carrier costs billed at the rates shown above. Free channels like Telegram, Discord, and Slack have no underlying per-message cost, so neither do we.
What counts as a free channel message?
Any message sent or received on a channel where you provide your own credentials and the platform has no per-message fee. This includes Telegram, Discord, Slack, Teams, and all other channels listed in the free channels section.
Can I mix channels?
Absolutely. Your plan covers platform access and free channels. Carrier channels are billed separately per message, so you can use any combination without changing plans.
Do I need a phone number for SMS?
Yes. You can add a long code / 10DLC number for $5/mo or a toll-free number for $9/mo. Phone numbers are available on Pro plans and above.
What's included in Scale?
Everything in Pro, plus a 99.9% uptime SLA, priority support with faster response times, and dedicated onboarding to help you integrate Outbox into your production stack.
How is storage measured?
Storage covers the message logs and delivery history retained on Outbox. Each plan includes a retention window and storage allotment — 1 GB on Free, 5 GB on Pro, 20 GB on Scale. Additional storage beyond your plan's limit is $0.10/GB/mo.
